I am worried very worried! some nerve in my arse sianetic or kinetic or Painfull sword in my hip, or whatever it is.
Now my wife is is pulled over with a dead car, not by a cop, but with a clunk with some kinda fluid all over. I am no a mechanic. The motor runs fine, apparentlly it just won't go! Must be the clutch...Gulp...fluid every where?.um, I am in panic mode!
what is wrong with it, how much will it cost?
It is a 93 Acura Integra, it is my baby, and she just broke it.
my oh my, I am being calm
any nice ideas on the fact it is a small thing , or am I dreaming?
not a majorgeek thing, but OMG this way off topic in an off topic place....

From the looks of it, your car is manual.
What color is the fluid that you see?
I could be leaking radiator fluid, oil, or coolant in that matter.

If the motor will run and your oil gauge is good as well as temp gauge ...but it won't what? go in gear? let out the clutch and no go? ...if so, likely your clutch when south .....do you know how to change gears double clutching ...well actually with reving the engine as you shift up or down.????

I know it's not rad fluid, because we have been through it once before.

The car runs: engine wise but wont move...Huge clunk sound ..I guess, so she says.
The tran is man(that sounds funny) ...Don't automatics drop tranny fluid.
OMG she even left her Wallet and smokes in there, thank the Vancouver Brewery she grabbed her Booze!
thats a bit of a joke.....

is the car a manual or a auto? because if its a auto you can kiss the tranny goodbye if manual we would need a bit more info

Does it clunk or grind? Can she get the shift lever into first gear? Did it quit while moving and let her coast to the side of the road, or did it fail to let her shift gears?

Clunking sounds like the clutch, dripping fluid may be hydraulic fluid if you've got a hydraulically operated clutch, instead of a mechanical linkage. I'm not sure which yours has. If she can't put it in gear, sounds like a hydraulic system that's sprung a leak.

Even manual gearboxes have fluid in them. (shrug) You've gonna have to have a mechanic check it out.

I would guess its auto transmission fluid you see on the ground, and more than likely means a blown transmission (probably the tranny drive belts and seals).

Get her to a doc right away! (the car i mean)
It aint gonna be a cheap fix if it is, im sorry
In the world of combustion, fluid everywhere is bad, bad....sort of akin to the BSOD! If you know what i mean.

    Regards...

    Manual tranny. No drive belts.

Like G.T. said, Sounds like the clutch/hydraulic system has lost pressure due to leakage, but ony a mechanic will tell you for sure.

At least get her to take her wallet out of the car, or else she may get that ripped off as well.

    Oh...my error!

It must be a hydraulic clutch then if there's fluid everywhere!

With the engine stopped, select first gear...then start whilst in gear with all brakes released and bunny hop it till she gets going.
Slow cruise home in first gear all the way or you could try a dry change if the rev's are right as Tim mentions.
May help save on the towing costs.

    Did any smoke appear?
You know how things never work again once you let the smoke out!!!!

    Regards..

I know some older foreign front wheel drives had a problem with the half shafts separating from the transmission. This will cause a fluid leak (red trans fluid also used in the manual) and the clunk or grinding. If that's the case, if you jack up the offending side and BLOCK IT SECURELY, you can look under there and maybe carefully push the shaft back in. The shaft should have a circlip on the splined end that hold it in the trans.
As for the shifter, just stuck in gear won't cause the fluid loss, so that a more serious problem, or just misinterpretation of the actual problem.
Don't take a chance and slide under the car with out securing it.

dont worry, when i get it home, I'll secure it to my clothes line before I climb under, or at least my dog chain.....

is there presser on the clutch? if so thin the clutch is not gone maybe someone pulled the topend out of the tranny trying to force it in lower gear or somthing or wrost the tranny is shot.

sorry if speling is off its a late night for me.
