My computer goes in circles

    Sometimes when i turn on my computer it would start up, then shut down ,and start up and shut down. Each time it looks like everythings fine. Then it starts all over. I would have to press F8 and go to last khown cong. to get out of it.

    Test your configuration with Hiren's boot CD. Use memtest86+ or Goldmemtest first, then test CPU. If everything is allright, download some Linux Live distribution, and boot it from CD. If it works, the hard drive is dead. If not, mainboard is probabbly dead.

    Hi

    What windows version you using?

    Have you booted into Safe Mode to check if you can boot ok into the Safe Mode GUI? ( press F8 and then choose Safe Mode with Networking ) if you can boot ok into Safe Mode then we are likely looking at a faulty or wrong driver/software install that may not be compatible.

    So next question is have you installed anything new just before this happened, if so what?

    Im using Windows XP2. And i do get a very quick blue screen too. I did get a new motherboard a Biostar about six months ago. But im not sure if it did this before then. But it would do this afew times and then, it will run fine. Like now i boot up with no problem.
