my computer has no sound

ok im really not into computer stuff so i dont really even know where to start, but i was reffered to this website for help, i read the other articles on audio problems and tried a few of the things but nothing really effected my sound sooo..
basically when i first got my laptop about a year ago there was loads of cds and stuff with it, i didnt download any of them cause i wasnt too fussed, but i remember it always coming up like, "two days left to install bla blaa" but i didnt, and now my computer has no sound at all, the only noise it makes is a beep sound when something goes wrong, iv tried playing music and stuff but it basically says everywhere that no audio device is installed.

somewhere on here before it said go on to device manager, and see if its installed and if it is uninstall it then reinstall it, so i uninstalled it but then it disapperead of my computer so now i dont even have sound in the device manager anymore lol... reallyy need some help

Could you tell us what make and model of laptop you have and what operating system are you using XP/Vista ??

 

ermm make and model, its a DELL, anddd... underneath it says its model- pp20l, but i dont really no if thats the actual model?

 

okk well iv done that and its came up saying-

the windows edition is widnows vsta home basic, the system type is 32-bit operating system,
ergh thats all ican findd, im guessing this is all wrong so im gonna do that thing from the sticker on the bottom!
