my computer is messed up! help!

    occasionally my computer reboots by itself. it doesnt even show the shutdown screen.....it shutdown INSTANTLY then rebooted......then i get those send error report window saying that windows just recovered from a serious error...... any reason why this is happening? was it a known bug and was fixed in SP1 or SP2?? HELP!!

    it happens randomly.....when i try running firefox, when i try running counter-strike, when i close a window, etc, etc....

    please help!!

    As you mention SP1 or SP2 I guess you have XP? if you have XP why have you not updated to the latest SP2 version as it does fit a multitude of issues.

    A fair amount of random reboots can be attributed to hit cpu temperatures, do you know what your temps are? if not then download this Everest Home ( free ) and once installed click Computer and Sensor for a temp reading.

    also some basic system specs may help if you provide those, again Everest will allow you to gain that info.

    system info:

    it shows that my cpu temperature is 44 °C (111 °F)......is that normal?

    44 °C is perfectly fine.

    Was this reading taken just after the pc had booted. If so run it again after your computer has been running for a while.
