Hi all my mom a Dell computer in 2020 but has not used it. So I updated it and have found the browser is eating the cpu then it keeps freezing. I have tried searching on Youtube for fixes for both Firefox and Google but I am getting no where.

Her laptop is a Dell Latitude 3510 8 gigs memory just updated it to Windows 11.

I am wondering if she needs more memory.

Thanks for any help you can offer

Do you mean Firefox and Chrome? What about Edge?

Since you said she never used it & you did an upgrade to 11, I'd wipe it and start over with a fresh 11 install. Fresh installations used to be preferred to upgrades.
More memory never hurt... Firefox loves more memory. Did you check task manager? not dealing with the 100% disk usage issue?

To check task manager, right click on the task bar and select task manager. You want to look at what processes are taking up CPU, Memory and Disk. Clicking the top of the column will sort them for you.
To reload the laptop get a USB key that is larger than 8GB, and visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 and select create installation media link.

I cant help but wonder if it is overheating when you work it. Open the case and see if the cooling fan/cooler is full of dirt. If so, get some compressed air in a can and blow it out, then try your work again.

My mom bought the Laptop in 2021 and has not used it so it sat in a zipped up Laptop bag. It has been dusted out but it did not collect any because it was sealed up. Also the memory keeps getting zapped which is causing it to freeze that is why we are doing a clean install.
