My computer's been rather slow these past days

Hi,

I got sent here through a thread at virtualdr. I have an AMD Athlon 2600+, Windows XP professional + SP2, 1024 RAM.

For about a week my computer has been running awfully slow.

I can't have more than one programme running at a time without the PC slowing down. For example if I use a download programme like eMule or Azureus the computer slows a little bit down. But if I start Nero burning Rom or only want to watch a movie the computer works in slow motion. You can see it quite well as the mouse cursor slows down considerably, it takes at least 1 minutes to change from a windows folder to another one or from an internet explorer window to another one.

But even if I have only one programme running, that programme works a lot slower than usual. I used to be able to burn a DVD in 20 minutes. Now I need over 40 minutes. Scanning the computer for viruses took about 4-5 hours, now it takes over 15 hours.

I've checked the computer with a lot of programmes like Spybot, Ad Aware Pest Patrol, Norton Antivirus, Spysweeper, Kaspersky's Antivirus, trojanscan and now those you listed. But they didn't find any viruses or trojans, just the usual adwares. Only the first time I used Spybot and Pest Patrol did they find a whole bunch of spyware. But no worms nor trojans.

RAM are ok too.

Only new programmes I installed since and shortly before the problems began are Spybot, Pest Patrol, Spysweeper, newest NVidia drivers (the drivers two weeks before the problems began), Norton Antivirus 2005 (I had 2004 before), Service Pack 2 (also some time before the problems began), Final Fantasy Online (about a month ago).

Uninstalling some programmes I don't use anymore didn't work either.

So I used hijack and if you want to see the log I can post it.
