my connection is 256kbps but peaks at 28kbps, no matter what computer i use. Help plz

I'm not very good with networking and internet but from what i can work out whats happening shouldn't be happening.

We recently upgraded out internet from 54kbps to 256kbps because we were only able to get 28kbps download speed at the most:cry.

We have three computer and a playstation 3 that primarily use the net. The one with the modem and the other two are wireless. Even when the main computer with the modem is the only one on the net it still only pulls about 28kbs at the most and the same with the wireless ones. This has been going on for to long and im not getting the speed i paid for. It has to be the computers or something cause when we got the new connection we got a new modem too.

The modem i use is a speadstream 6520 if that means anything
I also use a wireless usb for the second desktop computer. I doubt that mans anything though. Its a standard 54mbps wireless usb im pretty sure its a net gear one.

Did i mention the ps3 can pull 54kbs on wireless. But the computers struggle to get above 20kbs, cause that how i know somethings up with the computers.

Try uninstalling the network card driver, restart pc, install the driver.

Who is your isp? Also restart router and modem. If this does not help i would contact your isp.

Thanks a bunch i will try uninstalling the network driver. If all else fails... could you tell me how to find out my isp.

oh wait sorry. My bad my Internet Service Provider (lol) is Dodo its an aussie provider if you didn't already know.
