So Aug. 7th My dad had to have an aortic aneurysm repaired before it burst - He's 80 - did great thru and immediately after the surgery - then pneumonia d/t 60 plus years of smoking and emphysema. Supposed to get out next week ( probably Tuesday). Last Saturday we thought we were going to lose him - lots of trouble breathing, back to ICU.

Now he's up and around trying to bum cigarettes  and hitting on the nurses. Tough old guy. :)

If he is hitting on the nurses he is definitely getting better :) You are so lucky to still have your dad, don't forget that.

Just posting this shows that you care. I hope both of you have many more years of good health and happiness together.

Good news Slider! My Dad just got out of the hospital today. (He's 79) He's had trouble with heart arrhythmia for some years, and it's been out of rythm for a while... again. Docs put him in the hospital to try something new to regulate it, which didn't work. So they used electric shock yesterday to stop/restart the heart, which usually starts it back in normal rythm. At his age they'd rather not use that; it's hard on the heart, but he came through fine.

Getting old isn't for the faint of heart, is it. ;)

Slider, glad he's pulling through. Let us know how things go over the next week. He'll be in our thoughts and prayers.

GT, glad your dad is doing okay. I know you're close to him. It's scary when you have to start messing with the heart. I'm thankful that we have the technology that we have today, we are so fortunate.

I'm glad your dad is doing well. It's great to hear that he's kicking ass afterwards. My heart goes out to him, but I don't think he'll be needing mine :).
