    friday th 13
my daughter had a small tumorlike cluster of blood vessels removed from her forehead. right above her eye. . .a hemangioma (spelling may be a little off)

she wasn't born with it. it just showed up as a strawberry scratch or something
then it grew about the size of a dime and protruded through sticking out

it was no big deal and kinda rutine for the doctor any way. . .
we have to drive two and a half hrs to go to the dr who did it
and he told us to come back a week later to have the stitches removed

well we figured our family doc could do it, he said he could so we went
and he couldn't figure out how the plastic surgen did it (he guessed it was a new tecnique that he had never seen before)
so we had to go anyway

so today(yesterday) seven hrs after we left the house(waiting and stuff)
the surgeon walks in for two min. and says looks good. . you can go. . .

    what the h. . . . .

we asked him about removing the stitches. . .he laughed

    the were disolveable( whatever)

that was a truely crunchy moment

Doctors can be SO thoughtless. They think nothing of scheduling you for a specific time, then making you wait 2-3 hours before they actually see you, but if you're 2 minutes late when THEY'RE ready, they blow off your appointment and make you reschedule. Would have been simple to allow a local doc to do the simple follow-up exam knowing how far away you were, but he just HAD to collect that extra office visit charge.

Actually the doc probably didn't have a thing to do with your wait. Often the office help "triages" the patients they overbooked in the first place -- unless, of course, it was the doctor's day for golf (usally Wed. afternoon). I heard of a good way to see that it doesn't happen again. When you get the bill, send it back with a statement of your own. Example:
Time spent in waiting room at 18.00/hr. 3X18.00 = 54.00
Time spent in Exam. Room 4X18.00 = 72.00
    Sub Total: 7X18.00 = 126.00
    10 Percent Professional Disc. - 12.60
    ______
    Total: 113.40
    Office Visit: -110.00
    ________
    Total You Owe Me: 3.40
Please remit on reciept of this statement.
    Terms: 2% 10th. Net 30
Everyone knows the doc will never see this "statement" but the office manager will. Go ahead and pay when they re-bill. The next time you're there the staff will probably make sure you get right in to see the doctor. ;)

if thats what he wanted to do, he should have said so. . .that makes sense. . .
but our family dr called down there and talked to him. . .and the plastic surgeon has to be thinking that he was an idiot. . . . .so whatever. . .its done
wasted time. . but worth it

people get screwd by dr's all the time
    I went in for something
I had no insurence( i thought I did) and i got a bill from the inc. comp. itemized
with stuff on it they never did(the dr)

then I got a phone call from another company wanting to verify that I was in a wreck

    I was not. . . .
