My Documents window opens on Desktop

Whenever any user logs in, the desktop appears and MY DOCUMENTS window opens automatically.
How can I stop the My Documents window from opening... just open desktop.

Assuming you are using XP and have Admin privileges,

Go to Start, All Programs, Startup and check that My Documents isn't listed. (If it is, delete the entry, reboot and check it again)

The next thing to check is to go to Start, Run and type in msconfig and click OK.

In the Startup tab, look for the MyDocuments shortcut path, and if listed uncheck it and reboot.

If none of the above works, you can try THIS registry file (direct download).

Just double-click on the .reg file after you have downloaded it and it will adjust your Registry.

Be aware though I have never used it and can't guarantee it, so create a Restore Point first.

 

Always make a backup of your registry before modifying it!

Do this first, make sure its not in the registry to start.

Click Start > Run > Type in regedit

Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows


Look for any My Documents entry, if found right click and delete it.
