After reinstalling Windows XP, I can no longer save any files to My Documents. I get an error message saying Access Denied. I am not good at this so any help would be appreciated.

is this folder on a separate HD?

what you may need to do is to take ownership of that folder... to do this follow the following,

you will have to first click Tools > Folder Options > View adn untick Simple File Sharing as this gives you a new Security tab when viewing a folder/file's properties.... if you have XP Pro follow the below

then right click that folder > properties > Security > Add > Advanced > Find Now > locate your user name > click it to highlight it and click OK > OK

you will now see your name in a box called Group or user names?

click OK

you should now have access to that folder

if you have Home you will need to boot into Safe Mode first then follow the above.

Before reinstalling I was told to save the contents of My Documents to a new foleder on C drive and then perform the reinstall. I attempted to take the contents of the new folder and put them into My Documents and that is when I get the Access Denied message. Also, if I try to save any other files to My Documents I get the same message.
