All those trees are hand planted, one sapling at a time. I planted trees like that when I was a kid. 3 Cents a tree, 1000 saplings a bag, 3-4 bags a day. Not too shabby for a 14-15 year old kid in the late 70's. :p

This view is the best part of my commute to work. It is the south end of a range of peaks called "the Steeples." My crappy camera doesn't do it justice. If you were there you'd see what I mean. The peak in the distance to the left is called Fisher Peak. It's the highest in the area at 9300 feet. I've climbed it. I'll tell you guys about THAT sometime:eek:

you know what might be easier to do... weigh yourself on a scale, then hold the cat in your arms and get back on the scale... subtract the weights and voila =]

Cute picture Ace... they look like pals...

this is the mother of all banyon trees. its in a place called rainbow falls, so named because the mist makes a rainbow in the morning sun, and the falls look like they are flowing through it.

my big and beautifull companion. this is boysie. we struggled to find a suitable name for him. we were gonna call him spot, (he does not have a white hair on him!), adobo (people eat black dog in these parts and adobo is the name of the dish), blot (as in 'blot on the landscape' cant remember the author. english and hysterically funny, tom sharp i think), rocky (coz he would chew rocks, but as he is part rottwieler we thought prople would get the wrong idea), and so on. eventually 'boy' simply became boysie.

i have a lot of pictures of dolfins! i think they are beautiful. they come to me when i swim. i always thought it was because i was somehow 'special', than a person in the know told me it was because i have an arm full of metal and their sonar reflects differently on me. as they are naturally curious they then come to check it out. oh well. another bubble burst. lol

Hi everyone! I'm new, although I registered a while ago. Came across this thread and thought it was cool!! Great pics everyone!! I hope you guys don't mind if I post a few of my own, keeping within the spirit of sharing pics!

There's a trail around here that used to be railroad tracks... Part of it is along side a river.. This shot I took from a little clearing/path along the side of the river.

    photog - thats beautiful

theefool - remember i am on a glorified volcano. the ground will only absorb so much before it runs off. on this particular road the water was running down the road in the same direction i was going so i didn't really notice it or think of the danger. only when the road took a sharp left neither the water or my car followed it. :) could have been much much worse.

bored, no, it happened in '96. i had been on the island for less than a year and wasn't acclimatised to the dangers here. these roads are lethal. if you come off, your car doesn't bounce over the rock....it simply crumbles into it. the weather, the land, and the sea all hold hidden dangers.

This is my sister's dog Jessie. I'll explain the lips. This pic was taken a few days after the event so the pinkness and swelling have subsided. Apparently little Jessie was fending off a pair of raccoons on a second story deck when he fell the two stories to the ground. The lips was the only external injury. He was sore for a week. He's ok now.
