I am a Junior in college and have used dells godforsaken PCs for too long. Besides i am tired of talking to tech support in india after 55 minutes waiting only to be transferred to the printer sales dept. I am getting more familiar with computers at a more fundamental level and have read up on my stuff for the past two months. I am going to be using to build for Gaming, Trading (resource intensive platforms), 3D Design, Video/Web editing and coding, and some lightweight finance/accounting bs. I am trying to set up 4 24" monitors in a horizontal set up 2 monitors per dual monitor mount and maybe connect a hdtv too...I keep telling myself ill be able to configure and customize it to its full potential but i pragmatically speaking in need some guidance from some major geeks...something i strive to become one day haha

well this little intro and my semi-final components list should be enough for you guys to start bashing me in. Thanks again in advance guys

Looks good expect instead of 5850 in crossfire I would go with one 5970. It's a dual GPu card for around the same price and you likely would get better performance with less power.

Also as another suggest you don't need 12gb ram. 6gb would work just fine if you wanted to same some money. I suppose this is a gaming rig?

It is gaming, trading, video editing (cs4 web and photoshop), some light cad, cs4, just all around multimedia, and some lightweight finance/acc bs

The thing with one card, i think it will only support up to 3 monitors?
I was trying to find reviews on this one card...hmm hd4850x2? i think
it has support for 4xdvi 2gbs for around 220, but it has not been the best card for stable monitor support apparently? i really am not sure. What you guys think?

And i decided to go with CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) instead of the 12GB XMS3, which is a bit excessive for my needs i guess

I would go with a 5970 (highest end card right now)

Do you want to do gaming with 3 monitors or just one monitor gaming and the rest for windows?

Also you forgot to include an OS with your build. You would need at 64-bit os.

obviously on 3 and one extra is the icing on the cake. Ill def. be using all the real estate that i can get. yea ima go with win7 64

i think i am going to go with the two hd5850s just because the combined cost is still cheaper compared to the 5970 and combined, performance wise, would be comparable. also i plan on making a second rig in a couple of months so i could just swap the 5850s for a fresh, discounted 5970 or maybe a gtx300 haha

ill play around with the config to maximize my personal needs as far as ocing and running them in crossfire goes but def not going to be pushing the envelope with my first rig, thats for sure haha thanks for the input though

any ideas for a solid 5.1 sound sys? around 300?

If you are going to want to play games on 3 monitors windows won't do it. Windows will only put it on your first monitor.

I suggest you go with a 5970 and then get something like a Maxtor TripleHead2Go http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/

With that you would have the highest end video card + tri monitor gaming.

24" They are dells but i got them on a steal:-D, couldnt resist 169 a piece
In the future when i save up some money ill upgrade to better quality monitors, but for now they are fine for mee

Nice looking parts but ask if you can "request sSpec" of their current stock of CPU (see if you can pick a gem or not....;-).

Filling all RAM slots and or trying to run 12GB can be tricky, certain mobos are extremely tricky.

I would suggest you have a look over here, and if issues occur ask these guys (yea that's me over there):

    http://i4memory.com/

Search for the mobo and RAM see what they say.

    V8 on a 1366, I'm sure there's better out there ;).
