My Gateway 400x Laptop fan is really loud.

    I have had a Gateway laptop since, summer of 03 and in the fall of 04 the Fan on the Laptop just got really loud. I was wondering if anyone new a fix for this issue. I have taken it apart and cleaned it out thuroughly multiple times and it still continues to do the same loud sorta whistleing noise. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    you tried cleaning it right? how bout puttin some lube on it

    This is probably a good idea. The laptop is old enough and it just might need a bit of oil or something.

    Usuall the fan is glued onto the motor,and the fans have so little power it could actually slow the fan down. :confused:

    BTW I have clocked both max pain's sagem and loved them both.LOL

    Yes I have tried cleaning it, I could try lubing it. Fans are only 50 extra bucks but I also read that tons of people have problems with this Fan.
