My monitor is blinking...

I have a Sony Viao and a Sony flat panel monitor that is less than one year old. In the last couple of days, the screen has been flickering on and off sporadically. The monitor itself isn't turning off, but the screen is going black for a split second, then comes back, then it will flicker for like a minute. I checked all of the cables and I have a good connection. I restart the computer and it seems to help sometimes. This doesn't happen constantly or every time I start up my computer....Any ideas???

Can you try another monitor just to be sure it is not the computer?

No bent pins. I will try to get ahold of a monitor to determine if it is the monitor.

Could this be a virus?

 

I would try to switch out with another monitor first to make sure and positive it is the monitor and not the video card or connector on the video card. If its the video card you can try to reseat it first to see if that is the problem.

If its the monitor then it could be a bad connection on the cable on either end or a connection on the main board. If its the monitor have it serviced by a professional. You risk electric shock hurting you and/or the monitor if you don't discharge the CRT. I speak from experience!
