    Hello, welcome to major geeks.com

Lets try the simple solutions first. If your problem isn't solved, try the next one.

1.) unplug the mouse, wait 5 seconds, plug it back in
    2.) restart the computer
3.) restart the computer with the mouse unplugged
    4.) try a different mouse
5.) is it a older, ball type of mouse? try cleaning the rollers.
6.) is it a laptop? clean the touch pad.

When did the problem start? What version of windows do you have. What kind of mouse is it?

If you still have a problem, make a post in the hardware forum giving us as much information as you can about the problem.

thanks GIMPSTER for your prompt response....

its working now and not working next time.... my mouse (A4 Tech) was in good condition for several years and i keep cleaning the rollers, my problem is happening just recently. i guess it's time to buy a new one???.

i cant unplug the mouse easily. my CPU is hidden inside a table-like, i have to remove the whole CPU, and its too difficult with all the wires etc. I just wonder if my PC will be damaged if it gets real hot because it doesnt have proper circulation????? although, i have an air-conditioned room, i just wonder :confusedl

Who set up your computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. in the first place? If you're not comfortable with sorting through the various cables at the back of your computer, perhaps you need to get someone else to do it. It's possible your mouse is not properly connected at back, so that should be checked. And, as you said, your mouse may be defective and need to be replaced.

That is a valid concern. If the computer is sitting inside a desk cubicle with a door on front, I'd at least leave the or open all the time or even remove it, and, if there's a panel on back of that cubicle, I'd remove it. In other words, remove those barriers to air flow. You might also download and install SpeedFan and see whether it will provide some temperature information on your system.

i was the one who set up my computer etc because i liked the way it is hidden inside my table. but now this problem arose, i dont like it anymore. i placed my CPU now on top of my table :( it looks horrible !!! i cant use my old computer table coz i already gave it away :( :crybaby. i tried my other mouse, now its working again.

i have a question, can a virus do this mouse problem??

I believe a virus can cause abnormal mouse behavior but, since your other mouse works normal with your computer, the problem you were having was apparently not due to a virus.

Is this a tower PC? If so, how about putting it on the floor, under the table? If the floor is carpeted, I suggest cutting a board or piece of plywood, particle board, etc. to put under the computer. That way, the carpet will cannot cause a restriction of air flow through the bottom of the computer case.

as far as case placement, you could but it on the floor next to your legs under the desk.

Have you tried a different mouse? No need to buy, just borrow one for a few minutes.

yes, it is a tower PC. my table is not an ordinary table. it is customized and built for monitor and PC to be hidden inside the table. there is no place under the table for the CPU. that's why i have to place it on top of my table. the maker and of course, me, didn't foresee there will be restriction of air flow....

I had my tower inside my desk. (small closed space)
I made some holes for air flow where they would not be noticed.
I could have attached a 4 inch box fan to the desk to increase air flow but it was not needed in my application.
    There are always options.

Also use a mouse pad, sometimes the surface your mousing on causes issues.

i had that same problem a few years back as i recall... i changed my mouse and it was fine :/

oh and please let me point out that cpu is short for "central processing unit" which in other words is your processor and not the computer :)

that's interesting, i always thought my tower PC is called CPU, okay, NOTED!

i don't have problem with my mouse now, i bought a new one. and by the way, I remember now why it was acting wild, it accidentally fell from my hand, don't ask how ;) it just fell!!
