I love your mobo. :drool It should be a great base for your new rig. I have the same CPU as you, I love it. I went from a P3 to the 6000+ and it knocked my socks off. The cpu may or may not come bundled with a fan/heatsink, the stock heatsink works perfectly fine, you won't need to buy a subsitute.

I would buy SATA optical and hard drives. They use a more modern connection, and the big fat IDE ribbon cables are a nuisance.

The price difference between 250gb hdd and 320 gb hdd isn't very much, so I'd go with the 320.

I didn't look up your GPU, but if your serious about gaming, you should go for an 8600 and consider the 8800

A 500 watt powersupply should work just fine. The bigger is better hype with powersupplies isn't very accurate. Even if your running SLI (dual GPU)a 600 watt psu should cover it.

A quality powersupply will cost you $100 or more. Buying a cheap one for $20 jeopardizes your whole system.

    Hope I'm of assistance,
    Gimp

Thanks Gimpster for the advice,I will change IDE to SATA.I agree about GPUthat I should buy 8600,but here in Macedonia we have only 256 MB cards,so if I want to upgrade wiyh another GPU,I will have only 512 MB,instead 1GB with 8500.What do you think about that?

so you can get an 8600 or an 8800, but only with 256mb of memory?

How are you purchasing the parts? from a store? or online?

LOL unless your playing the newest games on the highest settings, an 8800 is probably over kill.

You might be fine with the on board video card.

Guys I build this comp for work not to play with(mostly true).Even if I play with this rig i will never play-FPS,strategy,kind of games.I'm sucker for NFS and Rally games.So,8500 will do the work or not.
