It's true, my pc is dying, I think.

For the past several months my HP Pavillion Media Center m8300f that I bought at Best Buy 2 years ago has been shutting down everytime I start it up. I'll usually get the BSOD and the error message IRQL not less than equal. This all started about 4 months ago after Windows Update decided it needed to install new drivers for the graphics card an NVidia GeForce 6150 SE. After this my computer has shut down regularly and sometimes will shutdown and restart. I'm typing this in Safe Mode, this is the only way I can even use my computer.

I at first thought this was just a bad driver and reinstalled it to no avail. Many times I have to unplug the computer as the screen will go black and be completely unresponsive even though the computer is still on. Sometimes the computer will freeze and the moniter image is tiled all across it and I have to unplug it.

I have wiped the computer and installed Windows 7, I replaced the power pack and have even brought a new graphics card. I don't know what the problem is but this is driving me crazy. I have yet to install the new graphics card as I'm afraid the real problem is the motherboard or the CPU.

    Any help would be appreciated!

NEVER let Windows update install hardware drivers for anything!
Have you been to the HP site?

Not sure if you have & 32 or 64 bit. Pick the proper OS and you will see all the drivers for your model.
I just looked and only find a Lightscribe driver.

    Go here

scroll down to Hardware Driver Reinstallation

The fact that safe mode works might indicate that you have a bad driver installed.

Do not re-install the Nvidia driver that Windows Update suggested.
