My Pc Stopped Playing Sound

Hi! Yesterday at 3am I got a System Service Exception blue screen and I just shut down my PC and went to bed. Today I woke up to my PC not playing sound at all.

The task bar sound icon had a red cross and said "The Audio Service is not running" and all my audio devices missing, so I googled for a solution and followed these steps. Apparently the problem was caused by Windows Audio's "Log in" tab was set to This Account instead of Local System Account.

Now I can see my audio devices but when I open up a video o play music I can't hear anything. When I press the Test button on any device I get this error. And at the moment of this screenshot I was playing a video, but as you can see the bar at the left isn't fluctuating in green.

I've tried reinstalling my Realtek drivers and starting windows in safe mode and it didn't work either. I'm hoping someone here could lend me a hand!

Edit: Also noticed that when trying to play music in Spotify it keeps on instantly skipping them. I'm super sure it has to do with the same problem, as yesterday it was working fine too.

 

Which version of Windows are you using?

Have you tried running sfc /scannow as a Command Prompt(admin). See here
It checks the system files and repairs them if it can. The process can take 15 minutes to complete so be patient.

Yeah, I tried that too but didn't work. I ended up talking with ASUS tech support and apparently for some reason that bluescreen made all kind of audio files got deleted and my laptop lost it's ability to reproduce anything new (that explained the Spotify problem).

They recommended me to make a refresh and that fixed the problem.
