My PC system keeps restarting automatically

Sorry about that last post. Here it is again


My PC system keeps restarting automatically. And I just can figure out why. At first I thought it might be the hard drive, but I installed an old drive I had and keep getting the same problem. I have reformatted the drive, but windows ME is unable to install fully because the machine keeps turning on and off.

Could the problem be with the motherboard and if so is there any test which I can run to find the problem.

 

By some information, we mean, you need to list:

Motherboard make/model
Processor
Power Supply make/model
RAM make/model
Hard drive make/model
Operating system
etc.

We can't help with anything unless you list these specs first along with some more detail... When did it start happening? Do you get any error messages? What all have you tried to correct the problem?

 

If its ME, it would show a BSOD if it crashed. This is most definatley a hardware problem. I'm thinking its either a motherboard problem or a power supply problem. Have you had this machine running OK before you tried to install ME?

Also what video card are you using?

 

Agreed with Goldy, this has got to be hardware based
Please post the specs requested by Wyatt-Earp including details of your power supply, theres some real clever people here but unfortunately we as of yet possess no pyschic powers so help us to help you

 

sounds like a power supply to me, I just went through this exact issue. Do yourself a favor too and get rid of that Windows ME, that OS is teh Devil!
