I have an Asus A7N8X deluxe motherboard, AMD Athlon XP Processor. New BIOS, Windows XP Pro.

The BIOS is set to boot from CD before going to the drive 0, my C: drive.
They always look at the floppy drive first, no matter what, I think.

I cannot boot from either. But both work when I am in windows. My Computer sees both drives.

    What on earth.... ?

Try running a CD while in Windows. Will it play? Your computer may recognize the Drive, but for somereason cant read off the disk. Make sure the Disc works, and make sure your CDROM doesnt have any Reading problems. Also, chage your boot sequence to read D: then A: THen C: It might boot from D: Then.
