My Product Design Project - a light

Powered by RGB LEDs and runs off 9V DC adaptor or (potentially) rechargable batteries, This is my design project for A2. It will shine all of the colours in the folder, smoothy fading from one to another.

Well, it can be purple if you want it to Its got an RGB array of LEDs which lets you choose what colour you want it to be - or you can have it fade through all of the colours

It will be able to be dimmed - I'm going to use a commercial RGB controller chip which has 2 interface buttons which will be mounted on the casing at the bottom, which lets you change palettes, lets you freeze the colour, or lets you dim the light And the chip only costs a fiver! Bargain!

Now all I need to do is get the paperwork out the way and get the parts ordered -

Oh and the predicted cost of the product: under £30 (with a profit target of %30, so manufacture would need to be £20).

Maybe once I've got the A-Level, I might consider trying to market this thing for real. Maybe.

 

Good Luck on the A-level ( I'm not sure what that is, but a grade or ranking of some sort).

I'd buy one - but how big is it ? And can you run it off a USB port

 

Haha, theoretically, yes you could! It takes 5V DC (not 9V as I previously said), so potentially I could make a USB power supply adaptor if I really wanted to

A-Level is the qualification that I'm studying for, in this case Product Design.
