You guys wont believe what he is making us do. Since the servers got hacked, we have to make our e-commerce project completely client side!

    Can you guys help?

I need to set cookies for each selected checkbox. The form is named Prods and the checkboxes are named checkbox1 - checkbox15.

I need some javascript that will loop through the selected checkboxes and set cookie letting me know they are selected. I would like to name the cookies in this fashion, ckCheckbox1=checked.

This way, on the confirmation page, I can check the cookies so that i know what their order is and can display it.

You know what else? We never even discussed cookies or very much javascript in the class.

Thanks guys, Im really in a bind and could use a kick in the right direction.

The proper solution would be to lock down your server. Tell your prof his client side solution is a waste of time.

beleive me i know. this project is rediculous. that is why im so upset. he'd rather spin the class in circles than take the time to hand out a fair project.

As a non programmer this doesn't sound so rediculous to me. The earth was flat at one time and if someone wasn't crazy enough to really find out....

What I'm getting at is that you may need to unthink and get creative, maybe it isn't a cookie thing at all, maybe it is, you may just be a little frustrated as you have been asked to do something that is totally out of the norm and conceivably undo-able. If this gets you thinking, this is a good thing, and I applaud you professor.

If it truly can't be don't, you will have learned so much more than breezing through a simple project, for instance, your learning about cookies! mmmm cookies

it's not a question of wether it can be done. It's a question of motive and security. Because the prof didn't lock down his server, HE wants to try to use his students to circumvent localized security and force the burden on the client where he THINKS what he is doing is more secure. He is sadly mistaken.

Never, EVER give the client any more power than you absolutely have to.

AMEN TO THAT!!!! if you give all power to the client and don't sanitize anything on the server, then you're in for a world of hacks and SQL injections..

no, you shouldn't like that..that's a very bad thing to happen.. unless of course you were being sarcastic... in which case..yeah..tell your prof that you like that :)
