My new Saegate Serial ATA HD is formatted and I cloned my old drive onto it with Acronis software. The Seagate shows up in "My Computer" and in "disk management" but I am unable to get it to boot. The HD does not show up in the BIOS settings. There is no option in BIOS to enable SATA.
I added this to a 4 year old Sony Viao that had two IDE drives connected to it. The Seagate is connected via a PCI card adapter. Adapter drivers are loaded. Not sure what to do next. Any suggestions appreciated, I tried most of what I could find in the forum on this topic. here is the info on my computer:

Since it wasn't described very clearly..... you have a new SATA hard drive plugged into a PCI controller card. This card is installed in an older Sony system. Right? The problem is, the system won't let you boot to the SATA drive on the PCI card, right? Look thru the boot order section in your BIOS and there should be an option for "Add-In Cards". I have seen drives on PCI controllers sometimes listed under "Removable Devices" in the BIOS boot list. You can also try temporarily disconnecting all the other drives: floppy drives, CD/DVD drives, other hard drives; disconnect both the data and power cables and leave ONLY the SATA drive on the PCI card hooked up. Then try to boot to it. If it doesn't boot, do some serious exploration thru your BIOS and see if the drive is listed anywhere. If it is, make note of where/what it is, and set it appropriately. It may be listed as a removable device, as an add-in card/device, or a combination of these. Good luck!!!!!!!
