So, we got a new estimating program at work and my old work computer will not meet the minimum hardware requirements.
(Bought in 2003 with a P4, onboard graphics, 1 GB RAM. Over the years, replaced the mobo, added a GeForce 6200 AGP and upped RAM to 3 GB.)
I got the go ahead to get a new computer. In trying to keep costs down (and wanting to build something), I donated an i7 920, Zalman CPU cooler and an EVGA 260 GTX Superclocked card which were all spares for me.

    So Microcenter here we come.
    Case - Antec 300
Mobo - ASUS Sabertooth X58 (Only thing they had in stock in the 1366 socket.)
PSU - PCP Silencer MKIII 600 Watt 80+
    RAM - Crucial 6GB Kit 3 x 2GB DDR3- 1333
HD - Hitachi 500 GB SATA
    DVD - Lite-On 24X SATA DVDRW
    OS - Win7 Pro OEM

Spent right at $670.00US which could be better if I had time to do more research and wait for some sale items but isn't too bad for a 2 day process and only in-stock items from 1 store.
Assembly went fine except for the CPU cooler. I had a bear of a time getting it on for some reason. (I guess I wasn't holding my head just right.)
Booted up to BIOS on first try and proceeded to load Win7 and other have to have apps & programs.
I was a little concerned with the Sabertooth board as some have been DOA from what I have read online and it wasn't my first choice. MicroCenter had an Intel board for $50 cheaper but the 1 in stock evidently wasn't in stock.
Finished up this AM and ran OCCT for a burn in and sure enough had to reseat the cooler as the temps jumped to 90C after 8 seconds.
Got that resolved and ran OCCT again with good results. Idles at 40C and maxes out at high 60's C to low 70's C. Ambient at 72F/22C

Nice looking computer. One of these days I am going to have to abandon XP and go with a 64 bit OS. The old Q6600 quad core still handles anything I throw at it.

Got to love the Antec 300 case. I wish they were a little bigger, but nice cases.

Now get in there and clean up that mass of messy cables you got in there! :-D:major

Just joking, without a whole lot of work, not much you can do about the wires.

    Thanks Fred.
I only half a$$ed the cables, and like you said, a bunch more time would be needed (at least by me) to get it in better shape for air flow. When I get some free time at work -roflmaoroflmao - I'll see about straightening it up.
