Why do they always run to me to help with there PC's?!?!? I am not a tech lol.

Ok my son has a Windows 7 going to Windows 10. He did the upgrade to 10 already and it was the one that popped up by the clock. Not one off the net.

When he tries to use the start menu it will not open. Instead it pops up with a warning from IoBit saying that (Search has files left over after uninstall do you wish IoBit to remove them?)

No matter if I say no or yes...same thing happens.

I did try shutting down and rebooting...still wont work

Also the search bar at the bottom does not allow me to type into it. It will not take a click at all. When I right click on the search bar (as if trying to get to properties & yes that is where I was trying to get to) It is just like right clicking on the task bar.

The Windows bar is all the way across the bottom and the clock is there but the search bar is not working at all nor is the Start Menu.

Now he did bypass Cortona upon Installation. But that is the only thing I can think of that would make it go screwy,

    Greetings HisAngel.

You might try booting the machine into Safe Mode to see if there is a change in symptoms. If so, then try disabling any startup IOBIT software to see if there's a change in symptoms when booting into Normal Mode.

Ok but can you tell me how to boot 10 into safe mode please.

See if this helps. Might not work on all machines though so good luck :)

Ok I got in to safe mode with no problems but it has the same problem as regular mode. Any other Ideas?

Ok y'all I scanned his system with windows sytem file checker following these instructions......

Right click start menu and select cmd with administration rights then type in the black box sfc /scannow ............

And it did find corrupted files.

    What do I do now?

It presumably said it had found corrupted files but could not fix them? There are two ways forward - do a repair install of 7 or replace the corrupted files from an installation disk for the same version. Have a read of Microsoft on the topic -

Either way you need an installation disk. Otherwise you may need to perform a restore to factory for which the computer must have a recovery partition or your son must have created a recovery DVD when new.

Update KB3022345 issued in May 2015 caused a false report of corruption when you run sfc /scannow.

Check your update history. If you have it installed, remove it and reboot. Then run sfc /sccanow and see if corrupted files are reported.

I did not install this update on any Win 7 computers in the house. it was a non-security update.

Take a look at Maxwell's post in this thread. I realize that you upgraded from Windows 8, but the logic remains the same - there are obviously still some problems with the Windows 10 upgrade.
