    Okies...

Main has a Sitecom PCI card 100M
    Laptop has Prism 3890

I can connect with crossover cable with no problem. They will not speak wirelessly.
I have set the SSID, no WEP, channel 1. I have tried using their own software, I have tried letting Windows choose my settings.

I think the laptop is the problem as it tells me that 'wireless connection unavailable' whereas the Main shows me 'enabled, bridged'.

I have tried re-installing the Prism.
    I have searched the web.
    Any suggestions?

Did you set it to Ad-Hoc?

I've tried both set as ad-hoc and also tried setting the Main as Access Point :(

I am assuming you have tried disabling Windows Wireless zero config

You think I should disable that service? I suppose, I've tried everything else I could think of...!

make sure you have the latest firmware for your wireless router and latest drivers for your wireless NIC. I had the same problem with the wifes NIC a while back and new drivers solved it immediately.

when trying to set up a wireless direct conection, the type of acess method needs to be ad-hoc (on bolth computers) , and be shure that the "bridged" function is off. then, once "bidged connection is disabled and you have a good connection (even without the connection speaking) then proceed to make shure bolth computers are part of the same work group.
then re-start bolth computers (verry inmportant that you do so)

Well, I got them sending and receiveing packets at the same speed but they still wouldn't recognise each other.
I tried setting up the Network Wizard but that just added them to the bridge and stopped packet transfer
Going to give it another go tomorrow...

    My head hurts.
    Wireless Zero disabled.
    Both removed from Bridge.
I can now get the Main to see the laptop and transfer files.
The laptop can't see the Main.
If the wifi is removed from the Bridge on Main, then Main will not connect to the internet unless the wifi is disabled.

Right first of all do you have MSN messenger if so t.ellis@talk21.com

if not can you give the following

Main IP address / Fixed / Dynamic / IP address if dynamic / OS
Laptop IP address / Fixed / Dynamic / IP address if dynamic / OS

So i am right in syaing you can see both the laptop via desktop but not the other way around

have you disables the firewall your own one or the windows one ie procted my computer in advianced within the network connection

Well - I'm nearly there - thanks for the suggestions timboellis - I haven't been able to reply as my internet access went tits up with all the networking!!!

I now have Wireless Internet Access.
Now my other laptop wont connect to the net!! (It's cable networked)
    Wireless Config disabled on both.
    Firewalls disabled on both.
    I deleted both Network Bridges.
I disabled all network connections except the internet one.
I told Main that I wanted to share internet with Wifi. Main could connect to the net again
It auto conig'd wifi's network addy to 192.168.0.1
Enabled wifi - I could see laptop.
Set laptop TCPIP to obtain automatically and set up alternate config of 192.168.0.2 with default gateway as 192.168.0.1 (which is what it's using)
Rebooted both PC's and got wireless networking and internet. Finally. :)

Now I need to find out what happened to the other laptops connection...
