hippy chick daughter makes an appearance Friday afternoon and sez 'lets go round the island'. this could be roughly interpreted as 'I'm going round the island but I'm using your car so I'm obliged to invite you'. Jacob not only assumes i will say yes, he immediately phones his 'girlfriend' and invites her. i can now no longer decline the invitation because zoe (sensible that she is) doesn't want to be solely responsible for two newly 'in love' 12 yr olds. when hubbie comes in he laughed at the invite and said no thanks.
we go and stay on a black sand beach on the kona coast. we get there at sunset and walk into the new moon thing. at new moon, the moon rises as the sun sets. its too cool to describe. the song 'I'm walking on a moon shadow' must have been written in Hawaii. we sat on the beach me and my daughter, and Jacob and his 'girl-friend' sitting some distance away. eventually after drinking the last of the wine (chardinay....starts with a 'c') Zoe decides its time for bed. Jacob sez (i swear I'm not making this up) 'no, me and Tory (short for Victoria) are gonna spend the night under the stars'. and that 'it was too beautiful a night to sleep'. after I'd recovered (!) we spent the night talking 'john boy' style and listening to the surf. the next morning we visited the 'fresh' water ponds. these are pools of Crystal water seeping from the lava rock. two probs. first the walk over the lava rocks in the blazing sun. two, by 'fresh' they mean 'freezing'. still....too sit in a real oasis, under the coconut trees, with your feet trailing in clear colorful water, is something.
we then (well Zoe) drove to the other end of the island to a black sand beach near the volcano. we camped the night on the cliff, under the trees. once again the full moon lighting our space with more luminescence than the fire. shining across the mirrored sea so that one would think of the possibilities of just walking across it. daylight, breakfast, beach. the spinner dolphins come out to play. leaping and flipping and pirouetting all over the bay. i tried to take pics but they would disappear each time i got the camera set. Jacob then 'disappears'! (with Tory of course) . frantic search ensues.......(the beach has real dangers) as he saunters up smiling, hand in hand........
back late last night in time to go to bed. feel renewed and tired at the same time. aloha. Laurie

thanx for the compliments guys. I'm surprised Zoe allowed me to be on it long enough to write that much.lol. the thing that amazes me is that i can be surrounded by all that natural wonder and my mind is forced to be thinking about where and what the two twelve year olds are doing! parenting just rocks! storm hit us yesterday. supposed to be a hurricane today...but not. knocked out the cable TV tho, which has pissed me right off. I've got into to 'nip tuck' of all things and its on now!! still they'll repeat it ad infinitum so i expect i catch up with it later. i take it that if the phone line goes out i lose the puter too? i love storms here. they're different and although it rains in england ALL the time, the rain here is like getting several buckets of luke warm water thrown over you. makes for hard driving though and I've as i went to the docs today, I've done 90miles in truly treacherous conditions. speak to you all later. nighty night. aloha Laurie.
