My new laptop is connected to the internet wirelessly. I dont know why but every 1-2 minute, the connection suddenly disconnected and I have to click the networking to connect again.

I dont think it's my router problem as my other 2 laptops are working just fine.

Any idea what might be causing this and how to fix it?

If you are allowing windows to make the connection ...you should go to start / programs/ and scroll to the wireless device program ...then do the setup thru it ....

Can you elaborate more on that? I dont actually know what program it is. I input the network key and then I'm connected to the internet. I didnt do any setup whatsoever.

Umm... I'm sorry but I dont exactly know the model. Does it matter though..? It's a Toshiba with Intel(R) network card. That much I remember.

As for the network key, I go to Properties of the card and then they ask for a network key, which I have to enter twice to confirm. By default the box "The key is provided by me automatically" is checked. I unchecked that box and manually input the key.

When it is disconnected, I get the message "Wireless connection unavailable" then immediately "Wireless connection available", which I have to click and then click "Connect" again.

This problem isnt that big of a deal when surfing as I'm simply disconnected for seconds.. but it becomes rather annoying when you have to do it 100 times a day, especially when you are downloading something.

    Any help is very appreciated!

It should be on your start menu in the programs ...Intel (click on it)....or when you click on start ..."connect to".....if not, then go to control panel and see if the intel wireless isn't listed.

I can connect to the internet. I see where the Intel thing is, but it's the same as when I click it over the taskbar. It's just there's no option to "reconnect when disconnected" or something like that. The problem is I keep getting disconnected even though the internet is working fine.

I'll try updating the driver & service pack 2. Will get back to this thread :)
