My xp is slow after SP2

It ran fine with SP1... till I decided I should update to improve my PC.

But now, after countless updates and restarts, my PC is so slow beyond belief. It takes at least 20 minutes to fully load the windows.

After the windows load, everything is slow too. When I check the task manager, it turns out svchost.exe is running 99 processes at 30-40k memory each. My CPU utilization is at 100% ALL the time.

What's happening to my PC? I cant work like this

Note: In the future when you post it would help us to help you if you post more information about your system - i.e. Computer brand and model number, hard drive size, amount of memory installed, etc as well as any other relevant info which might be related to whatever problem(s) you are having.

You shouldn't have more than 5-6 svchost processes running at any one time ( as you probably know already).

May I suggest that you go to MG tutorial on cleaning your PC of nasties.
