Mysterious Freeze

the freezing occurs when I unplug anything currently plugged into the soundcard, microphone, line in and speaker\headphone line are all I currently use. the freeze would be described as a Hard-Freeze with closely-repeating sound.

google and searching the majorgeek archives rendered me with not too much besides the already attempted, new drivers and new pci slot, which was no suprise\good given the issue's nature.

as always I turn to you majorgeeks with my darkest computing issues.
