    Hello honored geeks,

I write to you after a few months of trying everything i could possibly imagine could fix my problem: My vista freezes.

I bought a brand new computer a few months ago and put it together myself, I installed everything on it, played games, downloaded etc. I'm not sure exactly when my problem started, but I am fairly sure it was not there in the beginning, and I am very sure that it happens more and more often.

    This is my PC:
    Motherboard: Gigabyte X48T-DQ6
    Graphic Card: Radeon HD 4870
    RAM: 4x2GB sticks of corsair XMS3 1333MHz DDR3
    Processor: Intel Core 2Quad Q9459 2.66GHz
    PSU: Corsair 750w
    CPUcooler: Zalman CNPS9700NT

I run Windows Vista Ultimate x64.

I bought the PC along with my brother and a common friend of ours, and our three systems are almost identical. One of them only has 4gigs of ram and we all have differend power supplies. (and only I upgraded my CPU cooler to Zalman)

None of the two has experienced my problem.

The freeze doesn't seem to happen when I do a particular thing, after a particular amount of time and it leaves no event log in vista that I can identify as the problem.

    There is no temp. problem.

I did the memtest+ which "thatramguy" from the Corsair's forum recommended, and came out with no issues.

Any help would be truly appreciated!
Are there any obvious things I am overlooking, or is this truly a mystery?

    Martin.

I looked around a bit online and some guy had a similar problem that was solved by downloading the new Intel Matrix Storage Driver.
It was released in August 2008.

Can you list your CPU idle and load temps? And tell us what program you are using to get the temps. Same for the GPU if possible. CoreTemp woks well with my Quad http://www.majorgeeks.com/Core_Temp_d5665.html

    For the GPU, http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5796.html

Actually, after reviewing your system specs, your Zip Code is off. You just need to box the stuff up and send it to me. I will fix it and use it. I might even put a picture of you over my coffee pot.

Seriously, it is the only way it can be fixed. :-D

    LOL, nice box! :-D
