This PC crashes to BSOD 'UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME' with the number 0x000000ED. From experience, I know that I can usually fix this with chkdsk /r so I booted to the Recovery Console and let 'er rip. Naturally, the PC booted right to the desktop. But 2 reboots later the BSOD is back. So I run the Western Digital extended diagnostic (it's a WDC drive of course :p ) and it says the drive is OK. :confused So I reboot to the Recovery Console and run some other things (like FIXBOOT for one) and another chkdsk /r and again after 2 reboots it BSODs again; same error, same message. I plan on temporarily hooking up an old 8gb drive just to see if the drive controller on the motherboard is going out, but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas?

    THANKS

Does sound like it is a intermittent motherboard problem.
Have you tried swapping out the IDE cables?
