NAT Router settings

I have a router and I play online video games (via XBoxLive) and while testing my setting through my xbox I see that my routers NAT is on strict and I need to know if there is some way to change that.

Due to variations in features on different models of routers, knowing the model you have would be helpful.

Is that current setting in your router causing a problem when gaming with XBoxLive?

 

umm the Router is a toshiba cable modem/router 100Mbps

the model is PCX 5000

the issue is causing online gaming to be hindered a bit and is limiting the games i can connect to, so opening the NAT setting would solve this Im hoping

ok, i know its been awhile and ive tried tinkering with the setting to no avail, but how do i find the IP address for my xbox? does it even have one?

I was thinking of setting "Allow" any port to either my xbox or my pc if the xbox doesnt have an IP address....

does that sound like it would solve my problem?

because this router will not let me completely disable the firewall without shutting down all NAT traffic

I'm not an Xbox user but I found some info from Xbox that might help. Home Networking Equipment does not show any Toshiba networking device as being a compatible device. So, maybe you'll have to get a router specifically listed in that page.

I suggest you start at Guide to Home Networking: Introduction and read through all their info.
