is 720p better on a native 720p lcd screen than on a native 1080p lcd screen?

also, is it the same principle for projectors?

    Hi alarm

It all depends on the Native pixel DPI of the lcd and the size.Oh and the scaling methods the screen uses, In the case of a 720p signal fed to a 1080p screen the pixels used for say a 4x4 area of the screen will be averaged (scaled) to use an 8x8 area so the same information is being stretched (sort of) to fit the screen. So in theory yes a 720p signal will be better on a 720p native screen, But with the scaling methods used today it`s hard to tell unless the screen is a mamoth.

These numbers are not real just using as example.
    eg. 42" screen = 96dpi
    60" screen = 96dpi
In this example the bigger screen has the same dpi as the smaller one but is bigger so the dpi (dots per inch) are further apart). This means the image will not look as sharp from a certain view point, And the scalling will be more obvious.:)
