I recieved an email with a trojan/virus which hijacted my CPU. The Navapsvc.exe CPU usage shot up 70 to 100%. First of all what is Navapsvc.exe? I tried ending its process but was denied. I ran Nortan anti virus and ATS which removed 8 infected files but it hasn't changed anything.

Any suggestions on what this is or what to do?

    Thanks

Navapsvc.exe is part of Norton http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/navapsvc/

when Norton alerted you to this trojan did you get its name as there are many so giving correct diagnosis is like building a snowman in the desert!

Try Trends Housecall & see if that pics anything up.....

also with some trojans come spyware and other nastys.. did your Firewall alert you to any outgoing traffic?

also run Ad-Aware.. see if that gets anything?

Thanks Halo, I tried a lot of different things that I found on this site, I'm not sure what did it but my system has a clean bill of health again.

My firewall continually notified me of outgoing attempts.

    Thanks again.
