nba live 2001 win xp

    i've borrowed nba live 2001 from a friend of mine. installed it but sh*t doesn't work. when i start it all it says is: "NBA live 2001 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
    Is there a fix for this problem.
    anyways im running win xp pro, amd athlon k-7 @900 mhz, 256 sdram, geforce 2 mx 400, all the latest drivers and directx 9.
