ndiswan.vxd error at startup

Hello,
In have one last problem on this PC that I am working on for my friends - long story short, I formated and installed 98se. 400mhz p2 - 64mb ram, 3g HD. I am getting a ndiswan.vdx cannot be found during start-up error. I've done some searching and the recommended repair is to uninstall and reinstall dial-up networking . I have tried this but I keep getting the same error. Does anyone have a fix? Can you shed some light on this? Is this file needed? This pc uses dial-up to access the internet and it is working. The error is simply unsightly at this point.

Try this it might help

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup tab, Communications. Details, click to clear the Dial-Up Networking check box. Close, OK, Apply, restart Windows when prompted. Go back to Add/Remove programs and reinstall Dial-up Networking.

 

Got it. I did try system file checker and everything came up clean. I uninstall the "communications" rebooted and then reinstalled and no more error. I should of thought to uninstall the communications instead of just dial-up.
