one of my less intellegent relatives bought jacob a mobile phone for christmas whilst he was in england. of course it doesnt work here in hawaii. so does anybody in the UK want it?? the provider was 'orange' (pre-paid) and i think the phone was probably free.

Wow, that's nice of you. I'm almost tempted to move.

See if there is a way you can unlock it if it's locked to the provider?

yes its free. i took it to radio shack to see if i could get an adapter and more minites on a different provider, but they said 'no'. however, the're not very bright in radio shack. i tried calling nec to see if they have an adapter that runs on US electric, but couldnt get past the menu machine. so im at a bit of a loss. jacob is upset coz he had photos and numbers stored so if i send it to one of you, maybe you can email the photos etc. back?

There are websites that show you how to unlock phones.

As far as the power outlet adaptor, I don't know why that should be a problem.

Any electronics or electrical store should have them. US is 110/120 volts and UK is 220/230 volts I think.

Probably not worth all the hassle though. It would be easier and cheaper to buy another phone.

If the phone has bluetooth/infra red then yes I can.

I brought my Orange phone from the UK to the US. It was locked in to Orange but for 15 quid I unlocked it using one of the websites. Now I use it with a Cingular SIM card, no problems.

I can't remember which website I used now, but one like this would work fine.
