    Hello,

How do you know the hard drive has crashed? We may be able to help you fix the problem with it without you purchasing a new drive and having to go through the process of sorting out the new drive.

I had this happen to me just monday my 160gb Western Digital crashed.when it is none read able then you will now it has crashed.Best idea is to go to the site of the ppl that made the drive and check and see if it still has warrenty on it they should replace it for free.

if yours is still read able then you should save all of the files you can to a disk or a flash drive it will crash if it has dont it once than it will do it again.try and go to seagate.com and look and see if you still have warrenty on it they should replace it for free.

    hope this helps;)

Well as it would have it we back up all important stuff about once a week or so and I did it just 2 days before so we lost nothing on this pc we have 4 in the house and this one is my wifes so I would like to get it flying and get her off my lap top

Real question is could I just install a 160 gb hd and run my restore disk and be done with it

    Hi Old,

It doesn't have to be the same size or make, just the right type, IDE or SATA. It should be big enough to suit the type of work you will do with it.
