hi, im sick of my familys crappy HP computer(256 MB of ram, P4 1.8 ghz, Geforce 4 MX 440)

i want to build a new comp, but i dont have a lot of money, so give some config. examples that would make a cheap, but decent gaming computer.

if you don't want the traditional Pre-Fab machine but want the ability to upgrade without proprietary crap getting in the way, you may want to try these guys.

    This may help

I love newegg great prices and fast shipping. Plus if something is faulty they are really good about returns. Ok now for the hardware You can get a 2500+ for like $80 you could go higher if you wanted. The asus board a7n8x deluxe is about $120 with great onboard sound for the price. I would go with a 2 stick 512 kit dual channel ram pc3200 geil makes decent ram for the price about $120 for both 256 sticks. A mid sized case around $50 should do you good just make sure it has decent airflow. You can shop around for video card ati and nvidia are both good $120 for the newer 5700 and 9600 or you could find the non ultra/pro 5900 and 9800 cards for $200. A 17 or 19 inch flat screen $150. oh yes and some sorta dvdrom $30. You may spend some money on a powersupply or find a case that comes with one. This should be a farly decent bases. Its $540 give or take depending on what you buy and with keyboard mouse and speakers or headset.
