ok im sure im not am the firste to ask this,

and im sure somebody will say look to other posts.
and i have looked about 4 pages back. and not found enything,
and if it isent there im sure its to old.

    enyway here goes hehe

im looking for a new graphics card.
    for a desent price.

now i have about 2000 KR. and that is about 350 USD,
    so eny sergestions. ??

my friend says i should wait and get the 8800 (GT) or something,
that will come in about two months.

its like the 8800 but slowed down and cheaper. but still a good card.
or maybe just get something like a X1600

but i would like to think about the future to and get one with SLI or crossfire.
so nexttime it will work together with another, newer but eny way,

i have even thought about http://www.edbpriser.dk/Products/Listprices.asp?ID=207381 but it is abit more expensive. and not a DX10 card,
about 4000 KR twise the price but i also get two cards working as one soe hehe..

so what is the best card now and in a few months hehe (for the money)

    or for a bit more

forgot to say that i have a Nvidia 7300 GS 500 mb now.

and thinking about going back to my old 6600 GT 128 mb AGP ;)

if you have an OK card like a 6600GT for now, id say wait for a while until the midrange 8 series cards come out. If you put 350 into a card right now like a 7900GTX you'll kick yourself when it becomes obsolete or close to it in the next few months.

a 7900GTX or 7950GT wont become junk overnight, i have a Ti-4400 that still plays the newest games, my buddy is using it in his comp while he RMA's his 6600GT and he is playing Carbon, and BF2 on it just fine, so i doubt the 7950GT or 7900GTX will become junk overnight.

well im talking comparitively. a single 8800GTX is better than most high end SLI setups, let alone an 8800GTX SLI. Obsolete=non-directx10 compatible lol Yes it will still be powerfull but cant provide the performance and quality of a similarly costing newer card

so i should defenetly go back to my 6600 GT ?
    ok

but i have looked at the 7900 GTX and the 8800 GTX they cost about the same. they bouth have SLI. DX 10, and in one test i have seen
    the 7900 did better than 8800 ??

i found this in another post
    http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html?modelx=33&model1=529&model2=549&chart=231

but it is just that i dident realy set BF2142 on high.
it is set on abit lower than medium. :cry

and i still lag sometimes. especialy when artillery is near.

and thinking of 7900 or 8800 i dont think thay will become obselete soon

    but maybe
i have no ideer about this. (wich is why i seek guidence heare and my friend)

if SLI will they work together with other cards or does it have to be two of the same cards ?? if i buy a newer card in a year or two.

dude stick with ur 6600, but if ur gonna spend money do it right! get a dx10 card cuz u dont want to go oh snap! I cant play the beauty a dx10 game :(....7900,7950,1900 that is junk compared to the new age of gaming.Yeha itll
    run alot of things maxed out.Like i have 3 cards =2 8800gtx and a 7900gtx-basically outdated-
clocked a 600,memory 16000mhz.Yeah the later 7 series are junk now even tho i still one on my girls pc and nail 240 fps on css and it costed me only 189=on sale= Dx9 yeah is still fun like fear, elder scrolls,doom3,quake4,but i hear ppl getting 2 1950xt crossfire or two 7900gtx sli + plus on the wrong boards. yeah these cards omg fast but 1 little problem the games are gonna be dx10,have u ever seen a dx8 game compared to dx9 theres a massive difference. If you spend money on pc stuff make an investment and stick to it cuz upgrading all the time is kinda annoying. But ppl u dont need 3k pcs mine was only 2400 and it runs so fast it wont be ever outdated till quad core comes more common which its not,i give it about 3 years for only a cessor upgrade.

see when u buy pc stuff u have to buy smart and play the waiting game good on what to get. I bought a 3500 amd 64 for 300 bucks the next week it dropped from 300bucks to 90...this really pissed me off same with my asus a8n deluxe board costing me 220 then 110 shortly after.Same with my 300 gb for 170 and u can buy a 500 gb for 130,and my 7800 gt for 350..and now u can get a 7900 for 189....

so what i did was waited on the 8800 gtx bought 2! bought a 680i board so i can have 2 cards running at 32x. Then i did more research on what ram to get got burned from buying geil. Now im getting gskill, read alot of articles and think of it this way,ram is kinda like a car they are gonna run doesnt matter what brand. Now if u buy ram nobody has ever heard of then that would a dumb choice on your part. But corsair is basically paying for the name than the quality of the ram itself. Kingston and geil, gskill they all run just all good but it depends on what timing u get and if u wanan overclock ur processor. So i couldnt find any corsair 2 gb sticks at ddr2 800 but got 8 gbs of gskill :D...

if i were u and make decent money take 2 k and follow my directions so u wont have to upgrade for along time."meaning a good 5 years"

Motherboard : evga makes an awesome mobo with 32x sli instead of gay 8x8x where u never got but 30percent of ur second video card. Now with this board you get both cards running 100 percent effective!!!!

video cards:i was totally wrong on thinking 8800 were gonna be outdated quick haha.At first i couldnt figure out why the 8 series went so high up but they gonna do 8200,and up.i say hold off 1 more month i know how u feel man im a pro bf2/2142 gamer and i remember playing a gay 6600 it was horrible. But with sli u gotta play it smart now cuz its not 8x8x any more where u could buy 2 6800 and still be slower than 1 7800 where the 7800 was alot cheaper. What im doing with my 8800 xfx xxx i have a core of 1260,and memory of 4000 mhz...and 256 pixels stream. Or better yet its depends what ur doing it seems like ur a big gamer so im assuming ur gonna go next gen! You like battlefield, and 3 is coming soon! on the bad company engine and I gotta see what this game looks like on the dx10 engine.

Ram : I had a hard doing this, ram is ram... corsair yeah is good but so is kingston,gskill,geil,ocz,crucial,patroit....its ram theyre all the same..now if they have better timings only an idiot figure it out. I say any of the brands i just told u about and u find 2 gbs sticks at dd2 800 roll with those. With vista you re gonna need atleast 4-6 gbs just for the games. Battlefield 2 with the newer cards needed 2 gbs to play online.

processor:Get a dual core i recommend on getting intel duo for like 250 and overclock it mad cuz it can take it!!!!! :D... im at like 3.4 on a zalman 9700 led for 50 bucks.

Powersupply: if ur gonna roll with these cards like 7900 and 8800 ur gonna need alot of power. Same with psu with ram all of them are the same just dont use a psu from a case u bought cuz theyre crap or ultra from tigerdirect. Read on what u buy cuz if u have a psu it can fry everything and 2k just went down the drain :( .I was gonna spend like 200 bucks on a 700 watt when i realized a 1000watt psu was 269. I drain alot of power and if u are like me that uses 4 harddrives this isnt a bad buy!

I basically gave u a detailed guide on what to do with cards and newer stuff!!

This is what im using that i only spent 2,400 on where it would cost 7000 for those dells. Use the net like www.newegg.com or www.tigerdirect.com they slice prices nearly in half.

    My Rig

Processor:E6400 overclocked to 3.4 with zalman 9700 cooler
video cards: 2x 8800 gtx xfx xxx
    Ram: 8 gbs of gskill ddr2 800
    Monitor: HDMI,DVI 22 inch 5ms,1200:1 gamer monitor
    System: 5.1
    SoundCard: Sound Audigy xtreme
    PSU :1000 watt BFG
Motherboard: 680i evga motherboard 32x sli

Im assuming ur running AGP8x or 4x...its time to upgrade and this is one of the best u can build for half of the cost of a company doing it for ya man. Good luck on ur next system and remember make sure u make it next gen ready like dx10.

Also theyre alot of great games coming out man

    Kane & Lynch: Dead Men

also i played fs ms on my 8800 on dx9 on my dx9 pc...now saying this it looked good yes but when i got vista cuz i have the full version -own my own business, got it a month earlier than others- Dx10 looks omg! I love counter strike source i remember playing that game for like 2 years and go look at this its amazing.Yeah its still breath taking but in 2-3 half life 3 should be coming out and im just waiting to see what cs 3 looks like-hopefully the hitboxes r fixed!!!!!!!!!!! When i was playing fs ms on dx9 it was still amazing but the water wasnt as detailed as dx10,everything on 10 comes to life like and in HD form like the 360!

    thanks for that replai

ok i have now gone back to 6600 GT,

and i am seriusly thinking of buying the 8800 GTS.
that will cost about 3000 KR about 522 USD
and that is alot of money.

but i realy hate to lag even in singleplayer in Call of Duty 2.

and sadly i cant use those links since i would get alot of extra tax on it.
    since i live in Denmark.

Another thing u could do and probably should do to keep your rig up to date is upgrade your processor. With the new ones out, last gen procs have dropped dramatically in price so you should be able to pick up a nice proc for cheap. Find out what the max processor is that your motherboard can take and grab it, unless of course its a core 2 extreme which costs $1000 lol. Do u know if it is core 2 compatible?

BTW, the 7300 GS is on par with the 6200 series. The 6600gt would be closer to 7600 gs or gt.

    @Volumeone0686:

I assume ye are either running xp pro 64 bit or have technet plus (?) with the Vista 64 ultimate RTM. Cause, xp pro and home (32bit) can't use 8 gigs of ram.

Myself, I just went with the 8800 GTS.

ATI errr AMD is right around the corner with there new video card, that supposedly will kick the :crap outta the 8800GTX for about $100 more.

Oh i know it was easy to sli than crossfire for the intel duos..remember im running 2 8800gtx at full 32x. So nothing gonna hurt me for awhile, and hopefully they dont get updated to quick. I know win xp pro or home 32 only uses 2 gbs. I already have vista since i own my own business :)"how u think i have the parts''?!

8800 GTS \ or GS about 3000 kr
    a 19" flatscreen about 2000 kr.
