need a program to edit xp theme/boot screenac

    I'll keep this short and sweet. I dual boot xp and ubuntu. I want to make my own theme and boot screen. I have been googling for a day with no luck. None of the programs work and the ones that did work marginally well I have to pay for. I know there has to be some solution. Help please
