Need a Stereo Mixer, help!

    Hi All,

    I have Vista Home Premium, which does not have the Stereo Mixer ( I believe it is called Wave Out). Even after selecting to "show disabled devices" in the recording section of the volume, the stereo mixer is not there, like it was in my XP.

    My current sound card is Conexant HD Smartaudio 221.

    Is there a stereo mixer I can download for free?

    In contacting HP (I have an HP Pavilion laptop), they tried to install the Realtek Audio card but I continued to get the Code 10 error (missing a key or something).

    I am highly frustrated and hope someone can help. I really want to be able to play music in a chatroom since this is how I share with my family serving overseas.

    Seems that Connexant have not implemented this in the hardware/software driver for this audio chip and some info HERE on this (cannot find the offical word but have seen same text posted by support staff at MSFT) and sadly its nothing that you can change in Windows, needs to be Connexant.


    Reading some users are using this free app HERE, not used it myself so dont know how good it is.
