Hope this is the right forum, I need advice on the right type of laptop to buy my son for Xmas, it would need to be around the £500 mark, most likely have WiFi, be able to play games and probably have word or some sort of office software, Dell look great and seem to be reliable but not sure which one, anyone got any advice please.

Not sure, but if you want a gaming machine, you need at least 1200 US. Dell machines are pretty good, but the differences between them are small. I like Hewlett Packards as well, have owned 2 recently.

To run games the best you can make sure you get at LEAST 1 gig of ram and a video card by Nvidia or ATI, never an Intel video card. Those two things will go a long way.
