Is there an app that will extract an .ISO image to its original contents? I have several ISO utils (MagicISO, PowerISO, etc) and many CD burning apps that will burn the image, but I want to see the contents of the image (and possibly change them) before burning it.... the ISO utils only seem to convert the image to different image formats (from ISO to UIF, from DAA to ISO, etc).... thanks.

if you have WIN RAR you can extract the ISO file to there and then use the view function to open individual files

Power ISO should let you edit the ISO.

Open the ISO. The contents should be shown in the right pane. I've browsed around an ISO in the right pane; deleted a problematic file and then saved as a new name.ISO. Thus keeping the original complete ISO and the new smaller one.

I don't have an ISO on my HD at the moment but it looks like PowerISO also has an extract function that should put the files into a new folder on your HD.

Any problems post back and I'll find an ISO to test; but I remember it being fairly easy and straight forward.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but for some reason it won't extract. It starts to, but then closes almost immediately and leaves and empty folder with the name of the ISO; no errors either....
Again, I thought so. Maybe I didn't do something right. Honestly, I didn't spend a whole lot of time messing around with it. It was like 3am.... I'll try again and see what happens....
    Thanx guys. ;)

Using PowerISO, I just tried both viewing and deleting files in the right pane (be careful if double-clicking to view you don't want to accidentally run an executable better to rightclick and choose a viewer). That is fairly easy. I had more trouble editing a file. I worked on a small ISO and tried editing a simple .bat file within the ISO by right clicking and selecting view in Notepad. The only way I could get the changes saved was first extracting the .bat file from the ISO to a folder on the Desktop. Editing the extracted file and saving the changes. Then in PowerIso renaming the original .bat(it could also be deleted) then dragging the edited .bat from the Desktop into the right pane of PowerIso. Then saving the changes to the ISO by choosing Save as and selecting a new name.

All that said, to extract the whole ISO to a folder just select the top folder in the left pane and choose extract. Browse to a location and check the file name(it appears to keep the last location and name memorized). Edit any files you want and then just make an ISO from the folder. Probably simpler and less steps.
