I installed a new hardrive and am having problems finding the CORRECT drivers I need to install for my ASUS A7N8X 2.0 BIOS motherboard. My graphics is a GEforce 4 series, i believe a TI4200. and anything else i need to make it run.

The computer is fresh and its having trouble working correctly. If someone could tell me what drivers I need.

    I would greatly appreciate.

I heard that XP has problems with the ASUS drivers, and there are possibly some corrected ones that I need to download? The ASUS support forum drivers are not working for me, or I downloaded the wrong one. I downloaded the following: ALC650-345.zip.

    thanks i appreciate it.

i posted this on the wrong forum at hardware and realized it should be on this form. thanks

those are the correct drivers for your motherboard. the drivers for your motherboard will not include your video card drivers, or any other add on devices such as pci cards.

Thanks for your post pzaul and your help. The alc file that is supposed to be the correct one is not being recognized by my computer though, however. I still get the message "Audio hardware is not recognized or not working properly" or something to that effect. Any ideas what I should do since this is the right file?

    yes we installed this.

the problem we are having now is an Error 1305 for the CDROM coming up
when trying to install a game.

    Any suggestions?

you could try these basic steps from Microsoft Error 1305

checking that the Game ( whats the game BTW? )installs on another PC, also that the cdrom is actually working fine, try a spare or a friends cdrom in your PC to test.

Do you have all current updates for XP, as an updated Windows Installer Found here BUT if you havnt been to Microsoft Update I would do and get current with latest SP2 and subsequent updates.
