Need For Speed HELP!!!!

Hey guys!

How are you all?

Just recently i purchased a copy of Need for Speed Most Wanted!!!! Its an excellent game until..........................

i play the game for 10 mins and the computer locks up and forces me to reboot! before i play the game i closed all my programs so it has all the memory available to play smoothly. can any of you guys tell me what the problem is?

my computer specs are:

Pentium 4 2.4 GHZ
512 Ram 2700
Gforce 5200FX with the latest drivers 81.91 WQ BLAH BLHA
80 GB Harddrive, with a lot of free space!

Your specifications are fine for the game , im guessing its the CD which has the fault , if you have access to another computer I would try it on that and then if it again freezes , take the game back to where you got it from and get it replaced.

I could be wrong , let another MG cast there opinion.

Like Lapsed said, your spcs are fine for the game.
First of all, install the new nVidia drivers available (81.95). I read the .inf file today and found out that nvidia have modified some GPU specifications related to NFS MW.
Second, if it´s the CD that is causing the issue, get rid of it. Reinstall the game (Full Install) and apply a crack (no cd/fixed exe).

After Cracking, you can run the game without CD.

BTW, not all games can use a no cd patch, as some games use the CD to extract files during game play, Need For Speed being one of them.

And you are right, NFS MW needs the CD in order to run (I don´t have the game yet, and I didn´t cheked out prevously), witch amazes me...It´s the first NFS I saw running on that system! Not usual...

Anyway Joe, does it lockup when the CD drive is active (with the LED blinking) during gameplay, or does it happen randomly?

If it's only during CD drive activity, then it might narrow it down a bit.

Yes, but it could also be anything else.

Although if it's heat related it should be doing it with general use as well, not just with the game.

To rule out heat, try taking one of the side covers off while playing if possible.


BTW, what version of Direct X do you have, and have you installed all available game patches?

 

i have directx9c

and i havebt installed any game patches, can you give me the links to them? ive been looking but cant find them.

I don't know if there are any, which is why I said "all available".

You could also try uninstalling, then reinstalling the game to see if that helps?

can any one help me with the install of nfs: most wanted
i have installed it and if i'd tried to play it it starts saying:

This application has failed to start because D3DX9_26.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

i tought that if i re-instal it it would work but the message keeps ons repeating

 

What version of directx do you have?
You Do have to install directx 9.0c for need for speed most wanted.

maybe you should search the hidden files and delete the existing DLL and reinstall. I faced the same problem but when i did this it got resolved

I had this problem with Civ4 install - just run DX9.0c off the cd / install, worked for me. (even though it was already installed)
