Need Good Program for Backing Up My System

Can anyone recommend a good freeware program for backing up the data on my computer. I recently had a crash and lost many of my important files!​

 

Freeware i don't knows good one but if you have a few buck to spare the best one is Acronis true image download here http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2236 and the most time i uses Norton Ghost those are the best......

 

how bout using the 'free' one that's already on your computer....assuming you're using windows.

start/program/accessories/system tools/backup.

you can tell it what to back up, when/how often, and where to put the backup (ie- removable drive, second hard drive, etc)

it's better than not backing up.

 

thats works if you have xp pro, but if you have home, you need the install it from the original cd, here is instructions from microsoft, installing back up on xp home

 

Free one I am using http://www.versionbackup.sb-aw.com/ Can be setup to do an incremental backup of My Documents folder (for example) every time you bootup, or the first bootup of the day. Works for me.

Also checkout all the backup stuff on MG.

I'm a bit confused with versionbaackup. Not sure whether it is freeware or shareware. Came up with time expired`message yesterday, said I had to buy it and said I could no longer use it. Today it worked as usual. Gonna give it the flick anyhow and keep searching. Bazza

Actually,
I don't trust to freeware software, as they don't give any guaranty.
I prefer tried method and program like Acronis True Image.
It creates an exact image of the hard drive, which I can keep on a DVD or on another partition/drive.
It's a high quality product.

 

I use drive image 7.0 and/or Ghost Versions 9.0 to 10.0. They both make great cloned images of your hard drive which you can store on other network drives, dvds, cds, external usb drives, or all of these. Then you can access the compressed image through the browser of either program and manipulate the image, restore the entire drive, etc.

 

I keep getting a failure at the acronis download website.It goes through the download and then fails at the registration window and doesn't let the progam complete download. Has anyone had this problem?

 

Hi there, I use True Image too. It's cheaper and works faster then Ghost. If you want to make a simple backup it has the highest level compression.
This program has a differential backup option: it can capture the changes made since your last full backup).
