Need Google Help

is there anyone here that is google smart? can they help me with "BROWSE TIMELINE", and "INDEXING"

Are you referring to Google Desktop? If so, have you checked their help center?

Didn't know you'd already been to their Help section, you didn't state that in your opening post.

Can you be a little more specific as to what type of help you need with the topics?

 

what i would like to know is ...1) indexing what is it? 2)what does it do? 3)and is that information posted on my pc? The reason i ask this is i clicked on "BROWSE TIMELINE", and it showed thousands of files. 4)is that stuff on my pc? 5)is that what indexing does? 6)whats the best way of getting that stuff out of my pc.... thank you

 

In short, Google Desktop is like Google-searching your computer. I find it way too invasive for me, as it "indexes" (categorizes and stores) everything on your computer and, with certain settings enabled, sends this info to Google servers.

This is part of Google Desktop; uninstall Google desktop, which you don't need to perform Google searches, and this goes away.

 

Star17, thank you! that is the info i have been trying to find. plus you told me about what google does! i was not aware of what they were doing and what was becoming of my information.
i do like their homepage though,(it has some really neat plug-ins and opens alot of web sites)... i hate to say goodbye to it, but i must.
I have tried firefox, don't like it, do you know any other sites that one can set up a homepage like google! by the way, yesterday, on the boob tube, MSNBC had a show about google, after watching part of it i was debating on canning their website. again, i thank you for your help!
